The short version
Your details stay on your phone. When a report needs one of them, the app shows what it will send and why, and sends only that, encrypted, to the organisation dealing with the report. Photos are stripped of location and camera data. We do not sell your data. The app is free and shows adverts from Google; you choose whether they are personalised, and nothing from your reports or saved details is used for them.
What we collect
| What | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Username, password (hashed), email if you give one | your account | until you delete it |
| Google account id and email, if you sign in with Google | your account | until you delete it |
| Reports: category, place, description, photos | to file them | until you delete them or your account |
| Personal details a report needs (name, address, phone, account numbers) | the organisation needs them to act | encrypted; erased 90 days after the case is closed or not filed |
| Your home area and saved details | to fill in reports for you | on your phone only, never sent to us as a whole |
| Your phone's notification token | to tell you about your reports | until you sign out |
| Advertising ID, approximate location from your connection, how you interact with adverts — collected by Google AdMob | to show adverts, personalised only if you agree | Google's own retention (how Google uses data); change your choice in Settings |
Who receives it
Only the organisation a report goes to — a council, a water company, an electricity network operator — receives that report and the details it needs. Our hosting and email providers process it on our behalf under contract. Google receives the advertising data above through its AdMob software in the app; it never receives your reports, photos or saved details.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export and delete your data, and object to how we use it. In the app, Settings → Your data gives you a copy of everything we hold and deletes your account (how deletion works). Or ask us at [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
