Damaged pavement

Broken, raised or loose paving that someone could trip on.

Who deals with it

It goes to the highways authority: the county council in two-tier areas, otherwise the borough or unitary council. Area Watch works out which one from where you are, so you do not have to.

What to photograph

Photograph the broken or raised slabs from standing height, then from the side so the lip someone could trip on is visible. Mention whether it is near a crossing, school or bus stop.

What the report includes

No personal details are sent with this kind of report.

What happens next

Area Watch files it with them and you get a notification when it has been filed, with their reference number when they give one. Everything they tell us appears under My cases in the app, and you can mark it closed once it is fixed.

The Android app is in testing. It will be on Google Play first; an iPhone version follows.
