Missed bin collection
Your household bin was not emptied on collection day.
Who deals with it
It goes to your district, borough or unitary council. Area Watch works out which one from where you are, so you do not have to.
What to photograph
Photograph your bin at the kerb with the street behind it, so the council can see it was out. Report after the crew's usual time has passed, the same day or the next morning.
What the report includes
- The place, from your phone or the map, with the nearest address and postcode.
- Up to five photos, with location and camera data removed.
- What you say or type about it.
- Your full name. The council records who reported the missed collection.
- Your home address. The council matches a missed collection to your address, not to where you are standing.
- Your council tax account number, if you want to add it. Helps the council find your property quickly.
What happens next
Area Watch files it with them and you get a notification when it has been filed, with their reference number when they give one. Everything they tell us appears under My cases in the app, and you can mark it closed once it is fixed.
The Android app is in testing. It will be on Google Play first; an iPhone version follows.
