Noise
Loud music, barking, alarms or building work that keeps going.
Who deals with it
It goes to your district, borough or unitary council. Area Watch works out which one from where you are, so you do not have to.
What to photograph
A photo is optional; a short recording on your phone helps more. Councils investigate repeated noise, so note the dates and times it happens — they will ask for a diary.
What the report includes
- The place, from your phone or the map, with the nearest address and postcode.
- Up to five photos, with location and camera data removed.
- What you say or type about it.
- Your full name. Councils only investigate noise reported by a named resident.
- Your home address. The council judges noise where it affects you.
- Your email. The council usually sends a diary sheet to fill in.
What happens next
Area Watch files it with them and you get a notification when it has been filed, with their reference number when they give one. Everything they tell us appears under My cases in the app, and you can mark it closed once it is fixed.
The Android app is in testing. It will be on Google Play first; an iPhone version follows.
