Overgrown hedge or obstruction
Hedges, branches or objects blocking a pavement or the view of the road.
Who deals with it
It goes to the highways authority: the county council in two-tier areas, otherwise the borough or unitary council. Area Watch works out which one from where you are, so you do not have to.
What to photograph
Photograph what blocks the pavement or the view of the road from where a pedestrian or driver would be. Councils ask the landowner to cut back, so the photo is the evidence.
What the report includes
- The place, from your phone or the map, with the nearest address and postcode.
- Up to five photos, with location and camera data removed.
- What you say or type about it.
No personal details are sent with this kind of report.
What happens next
Area Watch files it with them and you get a notification when it has been filed, with their reference number when they give one. Everything they tell us appears under My cases in the app, and you can mark it closed once it is fixed.
The Android app is in testing. It will be on Google Play first; an iPhone version follows.
